pulse iltj1101 (WORLD PREMIERE) - WADE SCHAAF
Join Chicago Repertory Ballet for an exhilarating Spring Series celebrating repertory, reinvention, and bold new voices.
The program features two world premieres. Choreographer Yanis Eric Pikieris’ Beyond the Blue Line carries us to the horizon where sky meets sea in a contemporary ballet filled with beauty and a sense of limitless possibility. Founding Artistic Director Wade Schaaf’s Pulse ILTJ1101 draws inspiration from interstellar bodies and the transfer of energy from one body to another.
Anchoring the Spring Series is the remounting of Wade Schaaf’s The Rite of Spring, set to Igor Stravinsky’s watershed score. CRB has not performed this powerful work since its striking 2021 presentation on Crickett Hill, and we are thrilled to bring it to the stage at the Ruth Page Center for the Arts.
Inspired by the Ballets Russes era and infused with CRB’s contemporary classical sensibility, Schaaf’s Rite is visceral, ritualistic, and theatrically charged—a work that honors tradition while boldly reinterpreting it for today’s audiences.
Do not miss these exciting works including the Chicago premiere of Miami based choreographer Yanis Eric Pikieris!
